A Happy Ending for a Santorini Stray

This tame, shy Pit Bull was raised in a loving home. Unfortunately his owner was
in a tragic road accident and he was suddenly left alone.
We managed to find him a new home. Lucky boy!!!!

A Happy Ending for a Santorini Stray

Do you remember Pandora the adopted stray?
A hungry, lonely stray in Fira who used to perform to tourists for food and go to a souvlaki shop everynight at 7pm where she knew a kind lady who worked there would feed her.
Pandora was adopted by a sweet American woman who fell in love with her on her holidays last summer. SAWA volunteers helped her adopt the dog.
Two months later in America, to everyone's surprise, Pandora delivered a male puppy yesterday morning. The vet said she probably mated a few days before she left Greece!!!
What a cute surprise!!!!

A Happy Ending for a Santorini Stray

Hi Eleni!!!!!
..... First from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for all you did for Pandora and I.....finding her, making sure she was taken care of, always keeping me updated and last but not least bringing her on the plane with you from Santorini to Athens. Thank you ....thank you... Now, on to our little Pandora who is sleeping at my feet as I type this. She is doing GREAT!! She is the best little girl. She is getting used to everyone here...at first she wanted to chase down all my cats, but she is soon realizing that they are not toys and she is getting nicer with them everyday. She likes my two dogs, but doesn't pay them much attention. She just likes to follow me around all day. She goes outside to do her business perfect. Can you believe she loves the snow??? She runs and plays in it.
When she first came I noticed she performs for her food. It made me so sad to think of all the times she must have danced around just to get a little scrap of food from someone. She eats like a savage, but in time when she realizes that she will always get fed I hope that will go away.
I took her to my vet yesterday and they took blood and gave her a checkup. Everyone there was in love with her. Dr. Burke just called me this morning to tell me all of her blood work came back excellent. So that is great news. I am going to try to brush her teeth today because she has the stinkiest breath....lol. I got her a pretty pink sweater she looks so cute.
Again, thank you so much for everything...also huge thanks to Anna, Hara and Margarita too. Without all of you my little Pandora would still be a stray with an unknown fate. Everyone who meets her is in love with her, she is such a special soul.
We send you lots of love hugs and kisses.....

A Happy Ending for a Santorini Stray

Timotheas was lucky enough to find a new loving home.
A Swiss couple who recently married adopted him this month.
The Swiss love animals so much that at their wedding they asked their guests not to buy them wedding gifts but to use the money for a donation to an Animal Welfare Asociation.
Lucky Timotheas!
A Happy Ending for a Santorini Stray

Skylos:
The only things I remember of my early life were loneliness, fear and hunger. I spent the first year and a half of my life wandering the streets of Santorini Greece. I had no family and no person. I ate from trash bins and sometimes food that the nice people who came to help the animals would put out for me. I had to be careful because some bad people would poison the food or put ground glass in it.
I met my person one night on the street. There was something about him that made me know that it was right. I cowered when he came to me in case I was wrong. This time I wasn’t wrong. He gently stroked my head, face and ears. I followed him to his villa, even though people were telling him to stop me. I curled up at his feet when he sat looking at the stars and sea, and I slept at his door waiting for him to be with me in the morning. For a brief time, we were together. When he went back into the villa, the maid chased me away, and I was attacked by dogs I didn’t know. I ran as far away as I could. After some time, I returned to my person, but he was gone. The room was empty of his things, and his scent had faded. And then I wandered again.
They told me that my person found out about the bad things that happened to many of the dogs, and that he returned from another island so that the nice people who help the animals could help him look for me. They said he looked for 2 days, but that I was nowhere to be found. Then my person went back to his home away from here so that he could be with his other dog Toby.
A month later, one of the women who helps the animals saw me on the street, and remembered that she had helped my person look for me. She took pictures of me and sent them to my person saying, “Look who we found. What should we do with him?” My person said to keep me safe, he would return for me. The nice women took me into her home and fed me and cared for me until my person came from his home away from here to get me and take me someplace safe. The nice woman took me on an airplane from Santorini to Athens to be with my person and he took me on an airplane to go to his home away from here.
I live with my person now. Toby has since gone away....he was a very old dog. My person has 2 other dogs and 2 cats that needed him too. We all spend our days happy and know that we are loved when he smiles and laughs with us.
